Tetra Freshwater pH Test Kit
It is important to monitor the pH value of your freshwater aquarium. A pH value of 6.5 to 8.0 will suit most species of freshwater aquarium fish. Sudden or significant pH change can occur when tap water is added to your aquarium, therefore it is advisable to check both aquarium and tap water pH before adding water to your aquarium. The Tetratest® pH Kit was professionally developed to accurately determine the pH level in your freshwater aquarium. To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is recommended. The kit contains one 10-ml test reagent, a test vial, color scale, instructions and recommendations and 50 tests.

TETRA FRESHWATER  pH TEST KIT                        Our Price:$6.59     Qty:

Tetra Saltwater pH Test Kit
The pH value of water is a measure of the degree of acidity or basicity, with values ranging from 1 (acidic) through 7 (neutral) to 14 (basic). It is important to monitor the pH of your aquarium water because all forms of life, from fish and plants to algae and filter bacteria can show adverse reactions if kept outside their preferred pH range, or if subject to sudden changes in the pH value. In natural marine conditions the buffering action of bicarbonates and carbonates maintains the pH at a very constant value of 8.2-8.4. This value should be replicated in your marine aquarium. The Tetratest® pH kit was professionally developed to accurately determine the pH level in your aquarium water. To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is recommended. The kit contains on 10-ml test reagent, test vial, color scale, instructions and recommendations and 50 tests.

TETRA SALTWATER pH TEST KIT                        Our Price:$7.59     Qty:

Tetra Ammonia Test Kit
Ammonia (NH3) is a natural, toxic by-product of animal metabolism and the decomposition of animal and plant waste materials. Ammonia toxicity is highly dependent on aquarium pH as it is readily converted to the less-toxic ammonium ion (NH4+) as pH decreases. At pH levels above 7.0, increasing levels of toxic ammonia exist. At pH levels below 7.0, ammonia begins to exist mostly as ammonium ion. Levels of total ammonia (NH3 + NH4+) of only 0.25 mg per liter of water can be harmful to your fish and other aquarium inhabitants. The Tetratest® Total Ammonia kit was professionally developed to accurately determine the ammonia level in your aquarium water. To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is strongly recommended - even more frequently when your aquarium is first established. The kit contains on 6-ml test reagent #1, one 10-ml test reagent #2, one 17-ml test reagent #3, a test vial, color scale, instructions and recommendations and 25 tests. Tetratest Total Ammonia kit is safe and accurate to use with other chemical products that remove or reduce ammonia from the aquarium and which can cause interference with less-expensive single reagent test methods. For Freshwater(including outdoor ponds), Brackish and Saltwater.

TETRA AMMONIA TEST KIT                                   Our Price:$13.99     Qty:

Tetra Nitrite Test Kit
Nitrite (NO2-) results in aquarium water as the natural by-product of decomposition of ammonia due to beneficial biological filtration activity. Nitrite is toxic to fish life, and is further decomposed to nitrate, but interruptions or inefficiencies in filtration can lead to its accumulation. Nitrite concentrations as low as 1.6 mg per liter of water can adversely affect your fish, and in severe cases is fatal. Regular testing for nitrite will ensure optimum water quality and verify filter performance. The Tetratest Nitrite (NO2-) kit includes two 10-ml test reagents (#1 & #2), test vial, color scale, instructions and recommendations and 45 tests. For Freshwater (including outdoor ponds), Brackish and Saltwater."

TETRA NITRITE TEST KIT                                         Our Price:$10.99     Qty:

Tetra Nitrate Test Kit
Nitrate is the end product of biological filtration and the result of decomposition of nitrite. It can also be present in tap water supplies, especially in areas of high fertilizer run-off. Although virtually non-toxic to fish, nitrate is a key algae nutrient and high concentrations can interfere with osmoregulation (the process by which fish exchange salts and other chemicals through the gills with the outside environment). Nitrate can be more toxic and irritating to saltwater invertebrates and should be monitored more closely. Nitrate testing is also an indicator of general water quality and filter function; as biological filtration converts ammonia, to nitrite and finally to nitrate, other import chemical changes take place in the aquarium simultaneously such as loss of alkalinity (buffering capacity) or the accumulation of phosphate - thus nitrate testing can indicate possible imbalances in other areas without directly testing each one. For Freshwater (including outdoor ponds), Brackish and Saltwater.

TETRA NITRATE TEST KIT                                   Our Price:$15.99     Qty:

Tetra Carbonate Hardness Test Kit
In most waters, bicarbonate salts form part of the total water hardness. These bicarbonate salts make up the carbonate hardness (KH) value. Bicarbonates have an important function in the overall chemistry of aquarium water. They act as a pH buffer, preventing sudden and potentially harmful changes in the acidity or basicity of the water. Where bicarbonates are deficient (i.e., a low KH value), the release of acidic substances from the natural decomposition of organic material can cause a dangerous reduction in the pH of the water. The higher the KH the better the pH buffering, but a very high value can result in the water becoming highly basic. Favorable levels of carbonate hardness are between 3° AND 10° dH (degrees of German hardness). The Tetratest® KH kit was professionally developed to accurately determine the carbonate hardness of your aquarium water. To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is recommmended. The kit contains on 10-ml test reagent, a test vial and instructions and recommendations.

TETRA CARBONATE KH TEST KIT                        Our Price:$13.99     Qty:

Tetra Oxygen Test Kit
Oxygen is vital for all organisms living in your aquarium or pond. Fish, plants, and microorganisms all require oxygen for respiration. Low oxygen concentrations can cause fish to be increasingly susceptible to disease and cause biological filtration bacteria to work inefficiently. The oxygen concentration in the water of your aquarium or pond is dependent on a number of factors including; temperature (oxygen concentration decreases as temperature increases especially above 80°F), with overstocking conditions, with heavy amounts of decaying organic matter, and with poor circulation or surface films that interfere with natural gas exchange. Additionally, live plants which use carbon dioxide for photosynthesis during light-hours change over to oxygen respiration at night and actually add to oxygen demand. The Tetratest® O2 was professionally developed to accurately determine the oxygen level of your aquarium water. To ensure optimum water quality, frequent testing is recommended. The kit contains two 9-ml test reagents (#1 and #2), one 10-ml test reagent, a test vial, color scale, instructions and recommendations and 30 tests. For Freshwater (including outdoor ponds), Brackish and Saltwater.

Red Sea Copper Test Kit
Both beginners and advanced aquarists will experience occasional outbreaks of parasitic diseases like marine white spot (Cryptocaryon, Oodinium). A number of stress factors can be the cause of this problem. For example poor water quality, unsuitable or fluctuating temperature or salinity, as well as social factors.Especially when a new fish is introduced to the tank the chances of problems occurring are greater. The stress brought about by a new inhabitant, can even lower the resistance of the other fish, so they too may become infected. Treatment with Copper such as using Red Sea’s ParaCure, is often the only way to save the fish. The Copper ions are quickly absorbed by surfaces and deactivated in the aquarium. For a treatment to be effective the Copper concentration should be maintained exactly at the therapeutic level of 0.3 ppm for at least 10 days. Lower concentrations will not kill the parasites and may even lead to an increased resistance against the Copper, while overdosing will lead to complications for the fish and even death, since the safety margin of a Copper treatment is very small. The only way to give a Copper treatment that is both safe and effective, is to test the Copper level daily with a reliable kit and to add more treatment to the recommended dosage as necessary. Only Copper ions are effective against parasites! By using Red Sea’s Mini-Lab you are able to accurately maintain the therapeutic level of Copper ions. Chelated Copper has little or no effect.

Red Sea Ph/Alkalinity Test Kit
The pH is a very important parameter in the biology of aquatic organisms. It is a measure of the acidity or basicity of the water. The scale runs from zero to 14. Zero is the most acidic, 7 is neutral and 14 is the most basic. A change of 1 pH unit, for example from 7 to 6, means that the water gets 10 times more acidic. Due to its chemistry, saltwater is able to absorb a certain amount of acidic matter without a resulting change in pH. The substances in the water that do this are called buffers. The ability of water to withstand changes in pH is called buffer capacity. Based on a method of measuring buffer capacity it is referred to as the alkalinity of seawater. In some of the literature alkalinity is termed “Carbonate Hardness” or “ KH Carbonate Buffer”. This is exactly the same measurement as is measured in the Alkalinity Mini-Lab Test. The pH of natural seawater varies geographically in the world’s oceans between 8.1 and 8.4. On a local scale the pH is however remarkably stable. This is due to dissolved buffers (mainly bicarbonates), which prevent pH changes. Because of the enormous volume of the ocean, a nearly inexhaustible stock of buffers are present: the sea can take up large amounts of acids, without a noticeable change in pH. Compared to the sea the volume of a marine aquarium is very limited and therefore the alkalinity is also limited. As fish produce acid waste products and as the buffering substances are used up by calcareous algae and invertebrates, the buffer capacity may become so low that the pH could suddenly fall. This would be very dangerous to all organisms in the aquarium. The alkalinity is measured in so called milli-equivalents of alkaline substances (for example sodium bicarbonate) per liter. These alkaline substances have the power to prevent pH drops. The alkalinity of natural seawater is approximately 2.5 milli-equivalents per liter. This level should also be maintained in the marine aquarium. A common symptom of an unsuitable pH is pH-stress. Especially in the marine aquarium, unsuitable pH values are very stressful to fish, and increase the chance of the fish being susceptible to disease (marine white spot). To maintain a correct and stable pH, check the pH and alkalinity weekly.
